Meet Makeesha

Makeesha L. Allen was born and raised in St. Louis, MO to a chemical engineer and accounting professional. Growing up in a home filled with lots of love, she was a happy child whose varying gifts of academics, writing, speaking, the arts and sports were highly visible very early in her life. At the tender age of nine years old, Makeesha accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Shortly thereafter, God began developing her ability to hear His voice keenly and accurately. Her parents were saved and took her to church regularly; however, Bible-teaching and Christ-based living was not taught or modeled before her consistently. The result was her embarking upon a solo journey of seeking God for herself which brought with it much trial and error.

Spiritually unlearned, it was not long before she found herself defaulting to the sinful lifestyle of partying, drinking, smoking marijuana, dating drug dealers and fornication; all of which held a predominant presence in her family line. Amid all of this, she strongly sensed the call of God on her life. She would often pray and talk to God whose presence remained a powerful force in her life from the day she said ‘yes’ to His call to Salvation. For most of her teenage years until her early 20s, she would vacillate between these two extremes – the world’s ways and God’s ways. Not knowing who she was, what her purpose was in life, and/or if her life even mattered, but in sharp contrast, she possessed an unexplainable knowing that she was made for more than what she could see. This would result in her aimlessly journeying down a dark path of seeking love, identity, and purpose in all the wrong places. It was her Heavenly Father's unfailing love that called her out of that darkness into His marvelous light (1 Peter 2:9).

In her early 20s, Makeesha experienced an Abrahamic-like call from God to leave the world and life she had always known in Saint Louis for the unknown in Jacksonville, Florida. With only a Word from God and her faith in tow, she moved. One thing she had going for her was that she had learned to hear God’s voice from a young age. This was all God needed to ruin and rebuild her life for His glory (Jeremiah 18:1-6). She later found the Abrahamic-like call evolved into more of a wilderness experience where she learned obedience from much suffering (Hebrews 5:8). She refers to this part of her journey as ‘God 1O1’. During this season of her life, Makeesha: 1) deepened and fortified her relationship with God through Christ, 2) learned what and who the Truth is (Jesus Christ) through study of the God’s Word, and 3) was made over by the Holy Spirit to look like Christ in character and fruit. It was also during this season that God blessed her with the opportunity to obtain a higher education for which she obtained an MBA with a concentration in Finance, a BS in Marketing and an AA in Business Administration. This was just the beginning of her spiritual journey though.

Once God fortified Makeesha’s spiritual foundation in Him, He commissioned her to get formal ministry training. In obedience, she enrolled in Bible School for two years. During this time, God revealed to her, more specifically, what her fivefold ministry gifts were and how He would use her to advance His Kingdom in the earth. After graduating Co-Valedictorian from Bible School, she received her ministerial credentials and has served in varying ministry leadership capacities (Small Groups, Singles, Bible Teaching, Worship Team Member) for more than 14 years.

In 2015, God led Makeesha to relocate to Orlando, FL. In 2017, God gave her the mandate to start Makeesha L. Allen Ministries, Inc. (M.L.A.M.). M.L.A.M. is a nondenominational, Christ-based ministry that exists for the purpose of building up the Kingdom of God on earth by teaching and showing people how to establish and strengthen their relationship with God through Jesus Christ by way of Holy Spirit the outworking of her life in Christ. Its mission encompasses evangelism (M.L.A.M.), world missions (K.O.G.B. International), service to and advocacy for the homeless community (H.O.M.E.) and the Right to Religious Freedom (Free to BE in Christ)

In 2017, God commissioned Makeesha to launch Makeesha L. Allen Ministries, a Christ-based 501(c)3 ministry organization. Its vision is to build the Kingdom of God on earth by teaching and showing people how to establish and strengthen their relationship with God through Jesus Christ by way of Holy Spirit. Since its inception, God has used M.L.A.M. to transform thousands of people’s lives in the missions field. In 2018, M.L.A.M. independently held its inaugural missions trip to Rwanda. Ministry to the Rwandan people included preaching to/teaching pastors/pastor’s wives, women, university students, and the public-at-large; healing services; community service (building homes for the homeless); and providing financial and business support to disadvantaged women to help them become self-sustained. God ordained and anointed Makeesha a five-fold minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the world. Her primary offices of Kingdom operation are that of a prophet, teacher and evangelist. It is His power mixed with her willingness and obedience to share her life with others in words and actions that God uses to transform the lives of those she encounters. Makeesha is unashamed of the diverse terrains God has and will privilege her to travel along her journey of walking with Him through Christ. She credits her unique makeup to God’s desire for her to relate and minister to people of all socioeconomic statuses and worldviews – from the streets to the remote village across distant seas to the boardroom. Although Makeesha will tell you, “M.L.A.M. is my spiritual life in motion. It is who God created me to be,” she does manage to get in some downtime of learning (she’s a proud nerd), vacationing somewhere with a spectacular view, health and fitness, cooking, creating beautiful things, fashion and spending time with those she loves.
